UAE Shaheen represents the UAE in senior men’s XVs and Sevens rugby, bringing together players from across the domestic game to compete internationally.
The national programme provides a route for players progressing through UAE rugby, from youth competition and domestic clubs into senior international rugby.

UAE Maha has made strong progress in Sevens rugby, winning the Asian Rugby Sevens Trophy in 2024 to earn promotion to the Asia Rugby Sevens Series.
The team has also competed at the Arab Sevens, winning both silver and bronze medals.
Women’s XVs rugby is developing through the domestic game. A four-team franchise league has now run for three consecutive seasons, giving players regular XVs competition in the UAE.
The UAE has not previously fielded a senior Women’s XV national team. The federation plans to establish the programme during the current season, with players identified following the Sevens campaign. The aim is to prepare a squad capable of playing the UAE’s first Women’s XV Test match.

The UAE Falcons programme gives young players a route from domestic rugby into international competition.
UAE Under-18 boys and girls have competed regularly at Asian level in recent years. Both teams won Asian Cup titles in 2022, followed by further cup success in 2023 and 2024.
The UAE competed at Under-20 level in 2025, with the men finishing second and the women fifth.
The Under-18 teams returned to Asian competition in 2026. The boys won the championship, while the girls finished fifth.
Youth rugby continues throughout the UAE through the Emirati Youth Series and domestic Under-18, Under-16 and Under-14 competitions, giving players regular competition before progressing towards the national teams.
